Its been awhile since I traveled a lot. I used to be on the road about 70% of the time out of a few different Bay area airports. I had my favorites though. Oakland and San Jose captured my desires to move quickly through all the different statuses of waiting an airport makes you do these days. At Oakland, one can walk out of the terminal and be at the place the car is parked with no busses, trams, causeways, escalators. At SFO, there are these walking people mover things which are kinda cool. Its really fun to watch 7-year olds dashing down them with parents frantically running saying “left, left. no right. no left. watch out Troy”. The 7-year old knows not of all the lefts and rights. Its the sidewalk moving.

Over here in the United waiting room, there is a Palm store right across the way from my departure gate. I don’t ever remember seeing a Palm store before at an airport. Perhaps the new airports are just that way. The best part though here is to be a Tmobile HotSpot member. The entire airport is a giant HotSpot!! Sweet!

One thing the airports could do better though is their goofy ways with electrical outlets. What is the deal anyways? Its like we pay countless thousands for travel, taxes, meals on planes, beer, more; but we cannot have reasonable AC power? I want to charge my durned old T23 laptop because it chews the battery on WiFi. But I have to hunt around for power. They should have a “electrical lounge”. I could see it now…

Come on, weary travelers. Charge that pesky laptop battery. Be wifi enabled. Rest and relax and let all your batteries charge up!

What a great thing to do with all that wasted space at the different gates. If they combined it with a beer garden, lots of people would suddenly be spending lots of money at those places.

Now I am waiting for the Boston plane to leave. I’m flying United on the friendly skies. Is there a rudeness quotient and does United just win? I am not sure; but it sure seems like they have no real clue. Like changing gates and not even telling people. Another flight just changed the gate and a bunch of travelers almost missed it. No announcement; phhht. Well, you drop your thousands of dollars on flights, leave a bunch in the plane on food and drinks, and support those friendly skies and they cannot even let you know that the f’in gate changed?

Bad airlines. Bad, bad, bad. How about traveling with us? Not just soaking us the bucks.
