Linuxworld Expo Boston is beckoning with enterprise exhibitors, completely isolated dot orgs, and hidden parties festering with wine and cheese. Yes, dear reader; its that time again. Time to head on out to capture goodies, talk with friends, and perhaps party with AFT. I’m leaving from the friendly skies tomorrow and spending a week in Boston. Non-stop all the way in a slightly cramped coach unless I spend the moolah to upgrade if I can. Who knows?
I’m planning on being at Levanta’s booth a few days pulling the much beloved booth duty. I’ve always enjoyed the duty at booths and a few times in the past I pulled all-day duties. The shows are still fun; although from the time that Linuxcare gave away a VW bus to now, much has changed. I think everyone has blogged the show more than a few times and found it wanting in some areas, delivering in others. Its mostly an enterprise showcase and the place I feel most at home is always physically separated. Someone at work told me “after all you are just a community guy”. Well, perhaps. I think I am more of a Linux user guy with a bit of reality included. I have never allowed myself to get true zealotry over any operating system since they all have their places and spaces. If someone tells me “you must do this thing” and I look at the thing and it takes this or that operating system and application; I’m there.
Anyways, Linux beckons and Boston does too. Catch you all Monday as I enter my Boston blogdom for a week. Bring it on! Bad bandwidth in hotel rooms, expensive meals. Beer that costs $10.00 a bottle. See me. See me there!!
