Fresh off the presses this story arrives! Seems that we now have a computer that will understand quantum relationships/mechanics. I could easily imagine where this will lead us, what our future holds with quantum computing, and what a discussion may be like with such an “entity”. Surely, as we go through our venerable lives, this will become an entity. Will it have feelings, desires, emotions? Or will it just figure out the chance probabilities of a comet striking earth. No, according to the quantum quirkiness,
…an object can be in two places at the same
time, as long as you don’t look at it,” he said. The quantum computer
architecture can store quantum bits (qubits) of information, where each
qubit can hold the numbers one or zero, or even both digits
simultaneously.
There you have it! We’ll have a computer that can tell us how to make the perfect cup of coffee and also direct us to the best place to get a nice warm bagle and cheese. Life will be great with our great quantum friends and we can have enterprising and personal moments of genuine care and empathy with these big bro’s of ours.
The other thing we can do is simply add qubits. Each qubit we add will double the power. Add qubits will surely become the next great IT outsourcing gig and soon we’ll see professional services giants that either add, replace, or redesign qubits for these gas giants.
Seriously, we are tapping new places and our ethicacy and morals and belief systems will surely be tested and tampered with as we move on to this beat. Right now, its difficult keep up with the spin and speed of our world. Technology and science race ever quicker and we are trapped in semi-conscious states of disbelief, wonder, and worry. But, in the end, reality will itself be a qubit we add to the mega-conglomerate computer that I call:
Stanley!
