Sometimes you feel like a nut… sometimes ya don’t. I was away from bloggsville for a day or so as I considered my most interesting changes around work. I’m going back but yet going forward to a place I have been before. Its interesting when you have the chance of working in a interesting mix of hardware, software, services.
I’m not gonna give away the name of the company at this juncture but those that know me know where and what it is. Often times when you look backwards at things that were, your role in them, what life was like; the whole thing is frozen in time and space with the reality of then. As a species we seem to feel that memories anchor our beings and those selfsame memories are frozen. But things change and people change. Me going back there makes an interesting and provocative statement about that change.
In the end, I’m gonna be busier and for the first time in about 1.5 years I have an office to go to with people I know from other places. The blogging is gonna continue because I got a good set of months of archives and I ain’t done speaking yet about the failures of the current crop of standards and certification efforts on Linux. Whether I ever build a new thing around it remains to be seen; but I believe without the standards bodies reinvigorating community and end-user participation, the existing standards will become stale and not relevant.
As the new year comes upon us, we all will look back at the things that were and ask why or why not. Its always interesting when a change happens that intro and retro-spection always occurs. Perhaps its the gears we change as we change ourselves. We have to find the keys to our cosmos…
